| Spanish abstract | En el presente ensayo, el autor sostiene la hipótesis de que el factum de la figura metafórica e histórica del poder pastoral puede ser minimizado si se recurre a una mirada republicana que coloque entre el pastor y las ovejas el problema central que le da sentido a la política: el de la libertad. En particular, considera que desde la lectura republicana de filósofos políticos como Hannah Arendt y Philip Pettit es posible recuperar sentidos alternativos de las nociones de poder y libertad que no pongan acento en el tema de la servidumbre y el sustento paternal de los siervos -como sucede con el poder pastoral-, sino en el asunto de la libertad política de los ciudadanos y sus necesarias precondiciones sociales |
| English abstract | In this article the author present the hypothesis that the factum from the “pastoral power” metaphor may be played down by means of looking at it from a republican view. The idea is to place freedom -the central problem that gives meaning to politics- between shepherd and flock (i.e. the serfs). He think that after reading the works of political philosophers such as Hannah Arendt and Philip Pettit from a republican perspective, it is possible to recover alternative meanings of concepts like power and freedom. That is, meanings that do not stress the “serfdom” and “paternal sustenance” from serfs -as it is the case with pastoral power- but rather the political freedom of citizens, as well as the social preconditions to achieve it |
