| Spanish abstract | El Mercado Frutihortícola de Escobar es uno de los emprendimientos que se sustenta de y sustenta a la Asociación Civil Colectividad Boliviana de Escobar. Señalo que los miembros de esta organización definen su identidad como inmigrantes extranjeros y que se articulan de manera subalterna en la sociedad en que residen, de acuerdo al mapa local de lugares identitarios posibles. Planteo que el Mercado no sólo puede ser analizado como un enclave étnico sino, también, como un emprendimiento sociocultural. Caracterizo al Mercado como un lugar de trabajo donde distintos agentes producen y consumen distinción laboral. Focalizo en uno de estos agentes, los changarines, para mostrar que las relaciones laborales se encuentran atravesadas por procesos identitarios. Identifico las diferencias entre los changarines argentinos y bolivianos al caracterizar las formas de recluta-miento, los contratos de trabajo, la organización laboral, las modalidades de ejecución de tareas y los sistemas de control, entre otros. La segmentación laboral es explicada por los agentes analizados mediante narrativas que la justifican. Así, estas diferencias son racionalizadas apelando a las distintas pertenencias nacionales de los trabajadores, las que se objetivarían en ciertas características culturales y psico-físicas. Finalmente, señalo que estas diferencias son re-significadas en ocasiones en las que todos los agentes del campo laboral se unen para luchar por, para y contra espacios en la sociedad en la que se articulan de manera subalterna |
| English abstract | Immigration and discrimination at the working place. The case of the Bolivian community fruit and vegetable market at Escobar (Argentina) - The Market of Vegetables and Fruit of Escobar is one of the entrepreneurships that sustains and is sustained by the Bolivian Colectivity of Escobar. I remark that the members of this organization define their identity as foreign immigrants and are articulated in a subaltern locus within the society where they live, according to the local map of possible places of identity. I argue that the Market can not only be analysed as an ethnic enclave but, also, as a socio-cultural entrepreneurship. I characterize the Market as a workplace where different agents produce and consume work distinction. I focalize in one of these agents, the changa-rines, in order to elicit how labor relations are intertwined with processes of identity. The differences between Argentinean and Bolivian changarines are identified when I characterize strategies of recruitment, labor contracts, labor organization, modalities of fulfilling the tasks, and systems of control, among others. Labor segmentation is explained by the analysed agents with narratives that justify it. Thus, the differences are rationalized appealing to the nationalities of the laborers, which are thought to objectify in cultural and psycho-physic characteristics. Finally, I remark that these differences are re-signified when the agents of the labour social space join together in order to struggle because of, for and against spaces in the local society within which they articulate in subaltern conditions |
