| Spanish abstract | La fundación de la Comunidad Sudamericana de Naciones (CSN) es el acontecimiento más importante que ha ocurrido en el proceso de integración de América Latina y el Caribe desde sus inicios en los sesentas; y es trascendental porque su fundación significa abordar el desafío de construcción de un mesosistema de integración regional, emprender una nueva vía y ensayar un modelo nuevo de integración regional, intentar navegar a contracorriente del proceso de las Cumbres de las Américas y de negociaciones para el ALCA, buscar un posible reposicionamiento geopolítico y geoeconómico de América del Sur en el contexto de las Américas y del mundo emergente. | English abstract | The foundation of the Community of South American Nations (CSN) is the most important event that occurred in the process of Latin American and the Caribbean integration since the 1960s.
