| Spanish abstract | En el siguiente artículo nos proponemos analizar cómo se configura el sentido del gusto en el ensayo “Art Objects” de Jeanette Winterson (Manchester, 1959), en el cual la escritora británica reflexiona sobre la recepción de la pintura, para luego abordar cuestiones vinculadas al arte en general. Nos interesa particularmente estudiar las estrategias argumentativas que esgrime la autora para proponer la construcción del gusto como una búsqueda personal ligada a la educación de la mirada. Intentaremos observar qué posturas acerca de la función del arte, el rol del artista y la constitución de un público se desprenden de este texto, recurriendo a ideas provenientes de los campos de la sociología y la historia del arte planteadas por Howard Becker, Pierre Bourdieu y John Berger, entre otros |
| English abstract | In the following article we analyze how the sense of taste is configured in the essay “Art Objects” by Jeanette Winterson (Manchester, 1959). In this text, the British writer reflects on the reception of painting, to then address issues related to the arts in general. We are particularly interested in studying the argumentative strategies that the author uses to propose the construction of taste as a personal search linked to the education of the sense of sight. We will observe her personal statements on the purpose of art, the role of the artist and the constitution of an audience which are derived from this text, drawing on ideas from the fields of sociology and art history raised by Howard Becker, Pierre Bourdieu and John Berger, among others |
