| Spanish abstract | Los gobernantes del período Clásico eligieron en ocasiones apelativos de dioses para sus nombres personales. Los nombres del dios Chaahk durante este período son muy abundantes y de ellos se puede extraer una importante información que habla tanto de los poderes y atributos del dios como del vínculo que se genera entre el gobernante y el dios al elegir el apelativo. La mayoría de estas cláusulas nominales hablan de acciones celestes a pesar de que Chaahk está vinculado a los tres planos: el terrenal, el inframundo y el celestial. Estas denominaciones, que se reconocen claramente desde el Clásico Temprano, permanecen en uso durante el Posclásico e incluso durante la Colonia. Este es, por tanto, un semblante más del dios, que permite conocer mejor su esencia y ofrece un nuevo aspecto de Chaahk |
| English abstract | The rulers from the Classic Maya period sometimes used god´s appellatives as part of their personal names. Chaahk names are very abundant at that Period and we can get from them important information regarding the powers and attributes of the Rain God as about the relationship that is generated between the ruler and the god when choosing a particular name. Most of these names represent celestial actions, although Chaahk is related to the tree levels of the maya cosmogony: infraworld, supraworld and terrestrial. These appellatives are recognizable since Early Classic and remain in use during all the Post-Classic and Colonial periods. For all that, this is a new perspective that allows us to know better the essence of Classic Chaahk |
