| Spanish abstract | Este texto presenta una confrontación de circuitos de vida y decisiones de dos de los artistas peruanos más importantes que fueron activos en Chile durante el Siglo XIX; el pintor José Gil de Castro y el músico José Bernardo Alzedo. Esta revisión se enmarca en los estudios, inherentemente interdisciplinarios, de circulación de artistas y sus obras en el periodo de las Independencias Sudamericanas y el tiempo que a estas siguió, y en el interés por comprender el gran legado de los artistas afro-descendientes de nuestros países, cuyas estrategias de validación y prestigio social estuvieron fuertementemarcadas por su origen étnico. Se analizan las similitudes y diferencias en su formación, en sus trayectorias vinculadas a Chile, en la relación con sus gremios artísticos, y en el reciclaje de materiales para transformar el significado de sus propias obras en un contexto de fuertes cambios políticos. Este texto se pregunta cómo fueron conducidas sus decisiones por las circunstancias,tales como la necesidad, en cuanto artistas mulatos, de emigrar del Perú, posicionarse en la sociedad chilena como líderes de sus gremios, y más tarde de retornar, a fuerza de varios intentos, a su país |
| English abstract | This text presents a confrontation of life circuits and decisions for two of the most important Peruvian artists actives in Chile during XIX century; the painter José Gil de Castro and the musician José Bernardo Alzedo. This revision is framed on the inherently interdisciplinay studies of artists and the circulation of their works during the Suthamerican independencies period and the following time, and in the interest for understand the great legacy of the Afro-descendant artists in our countries, which strategies of validation and social prestige were strongly marked by their ethnic origin.Similarities and differences are analyzed on their education, their paths linkedto Chile, their relationship with their artistic guilds, and in the recycling of materials to transform the meaning of their own works in a context of hard political changes. This text wonders how were guided their decisions by the circumstances; such as the need, as mulato artists, of emigrating from Peru, to reach a position in Chile as leaders of their guilds, and to get back latter, after several attempts, to their country |
