| Spanish abstract | La humanidad de fines del siglo XX y principios del XXI ha sido marcada por los grandes avances tecnológicos y un acelerado cambio cultural. Por otra parte está siendo puesta a prueba por brotes de violencia y crueldad en los más diversos rincones de nuestro mundo. Los Estados del bienestar social han dado paso a un mercantilismo a ultranza que desdibuja la singularidad de los sujetos y deja a muchos de ellos sin lugar social alguno, poniendo en riesgo al contrato civilizatorio. Han surgido nuevas formas de guerra y genocidio que llevan a cuestionar nuestras posibilidades de convivencia y de mantenernos con vida como especie. ¿Contamos con recursos para contrarrestar el álgido panorama que nos rodea? El genocidio ocurrido en Srebrenica en 1995 y el testimonio dado por una de las sobrevivientes de la masacre son apoyos para reflexionar sobre estas cuestiones |
| English abstract | Mankind at the end of the 20th Century and the beginning of the 21st have been marked by the great technological breakthroughs and an accelerated cultural change. On the other hand, it is being tested by violence and cruelty outbreaks in various corners of our world. The social welfare states have brought about an out-and-out mercantilism that erases the individual's singularity and deprives many of them of a social place, thus putting the civilizing contract at risk. New forms of war and genocide have emerged that make us question our possibilities of coexisting and staying alive as a species. Do we have the resources to counteract the grim panorama around us? The genocide occurred in Srebrenica in 1995 and the testimony given by one of the survivors of the massacre help us to reflect on these issues |
