English abstract | This article aims at exploring a set of different versions of Ayoreo shamanism — a Zamucoan-speaking group from the Paraguayan Chaco — brought to bear in the face of different events that occurred throughout history through some aspects of a notion of transformation. For the purpose of doing so, we present a body of three different variants of what was called “Ayoreo Shamanism” in order to propose a reflection about the concept of transformation and its connections with the ethnography of some aspects of Ayoreo sociocosmology |
Portuguese abstract | O presente artigo tem como objetivo examinar um conjunto de versões diferentes sobre o xamanismo do povo Ayoreo — falante de uma língua Zamuco e habitante do Chaco paraguaio — mobilizadas diante de diferentes acontecimentos ocorridos ao longo da história à luz de alguns aspectos de uma noção de transformação. Além disso, procede-se pela apresentação de três variantes do que se chamou de “xamanismo ayoreo” para oferecer, ao fim, uma reflexão sobre esse conceito, quando é posto em conexão com uma descrição etnográfica de alguns aspectos da sociocosmologia desse povo |
