| Spanish abstract | Este artículo propone una interpretación para un conjunto de mitos asociados al compadrazgo, sobre la base de un análisis sustentado en la metodología estructuralista y dentro de un área cultural delimitada. Los mitos presentan el leitmotiv de la trasgresión del tabú del incesto entre compadres y su correlativo castigo sobrenatural, con metamorfosis extraordinarias (como piedras y como serpientes o víboras). Los mitos son analizados comparativamente entre ellos como “variaciones de un mismo tema” y corresponden a las tradiciones orales de grupos étnicos de México y Centroamérica (El Salvador y Guatemala) |
| English abstract | This article proposes an interpretation for the set of myths associated with the godfather kinship. It is based on an analysis supported by a structuralist methodology and kept within a limited cultural area. The myths present a leitmotif of the transgression of the incest taboo between godfathers and its correlative supernatural punishment with extraordinary metamorphoses (as stones and as serpents or vipers). The myths are analyzed comparatively between them as “variations on a theme” and correspond to the oral traditions of ethnic groups in Mexico and Central America (El Salvador and Guatemala) |
| Other abstract | In diesem Artikel wird die Interpretation mehrerer Mythen vorgestellt, die mit dem Thema “Gevatterschaft” in Zusammenhang stehen. Grundlage ist eine auf strukturalistischen Methoden beruhende Analyse, die sich auf einen begrenzten kulturellen Raum bezieht. Mythen stellen das Leitmotiv der Überschreitung des Inzest-Tabus zwischen Gevattern und der damit verbundenen übernatürlichen Strafe; mit auβergewöhnlichen Metamorphosen (so zum Beispiel die Verwandlung in Steine oder Schlangen). Die hier behandelten Mythen werden bei der Analyse als “Variationen desselben Themas” aufgefasst und miteinander verglichen; sie entstammen der mündlichen Tradition ethnischer Gruppen Mexikos und Zentralamerikas (El Salvador y Guatemala) |
