| Spanish abstract | La obra de Balbino Dávalos (1866-1951) ya ha sido debidamente compendiada, pero quizás falta por precisar y ajustar la imagen que de él se formaron sus contemporáneos en su juventud; una semblanza elaborada a partir de pedacerías encontradas aquí y allá que subrayan más si cabe ese afecto del que fue objeto casi desde su aparición en el paisaje literario de la última década del siglo xix. La simpatía y cordialidad que despertaba su compañía va enriqueciendo su retrato con tonalidades que exponen a la par su bonhomía y su maestría en el ejercicio de los versos. | English abstract | The work of Balbino Dávalos (1866-1951) has already been duly summarized, but perhaps we still need to define more clearly and adjust his image that his contemporaries formed in his youth. This image is a portrait elaborated from pieces found here and there that underline more if possible that fondness which he was made an object of since his appearance on the literary scene in the last decade of the 19th century. The affection and cordiality that his company inspired enriches his portrait with tones that show his affability and his mastery in writing verses.
