| Spanish abstract | Los virus y las bacterias pertenecen a diferentes reinos biológicos; sin embargo, comparten las características de ser microscópicos, ser letales para la salud humana y ser capaces de vivir en ambientes extremos. A pesar de estas similitudes se debe aclarar que no son lo mismo. Las bacterias son organismos unicelulares y los virus son partículas que contienen ADN o ARN. Después de la pandemia por Covid-19 se han creado especulaciones y confusiones sobre los virus. Se realizó una encuesta digital abierta para evaluar el conocimiento de público general. Se encontró que el 97.6% de los encuestados no consideran a los virus y las bacterias como lo mismo y el 90.5% considera que se debería de profundizar el tema desde la primaria. Aunque la mayoría de los encuestados conocían la diferencia entre virus y bacteria, contrario a lo que se había previsto, se obtuvo un resultado esperado en que se debería de profundizar el tema en el plan educativo |
| English abstract | Viruses and bacteria belong to different biological kingdoms; however, they share the characteristics of being microscopic, being lethal for human’s health, and being able of living in extreme environments. Despite these similarities, it should be clarified that they are not the same. Bacteria are unicellular organisms and viruses are particles that contain DNA or RNA. After the Covid-19 pandemic speculations and confusions about viruses were created. To evaluate the knowledge of the general audience, an open digital survey was created. It was found that 97.6% of the respondents did not consider viruses and bacteria as the same thing and 90.5% considers that the topic should be deepened since elementary school. Even though most of the respondents knew the difference between viruses and bacteria, contrary to what was predicted, an expected outcome was reached in the idea that the topic should be deepened in the educational plan |
