| Spanish abstract | La historiografía nacionalista del siglo XIX, y casi todo el siglo XX, consolidó a la historia de las independencias como hechos aislados entre sí, y de ruptura respecto a las añejas estructuras coloniales. Los historiadores marginaron la influencia del liberalismo español y la Constitución de Cádiz de 1812 en la formación de movimientos y agrupaciones sociopolíticas en Hispanoamérica. A la par, el estudio de las independencias hispanoamericanas fue relegado ante las revoluciones acaecidas a principios del siglo XX. De ahí que se hace imperioso revisar los fundamentos de la historiografía independentista, y su legado explicativo de las transformaciones sociopolíticas desde el enfoque de la historia hispanista. La tesis que aquí se sostiene es que los procesos de independencia hispanoamericanos sí supusieron un cambio en las estructuras coloniales. Empero, más allá de las historias nacionales, la matriz que explica la serie de transformaciones, establece una relación entre éstas y el proceso gaditano |
| English abstract | Nationalist historiography of the nineteenth century, and of almost the entire twentieth century, consolidated the history of independence movements as isolated events among themselves and as breakage with the age-old colonial structures. Historians marginalized the influence of Spanish liberalism and the Cadiz Constitution of 1812 to the formation of political groups and movements in Latin America. Also, the study of the Hispano-American independence movements was carried out before the revolutions at the beginning of the twentieth century. Hence it is imperative to review the foundations of independence historiography, and its descriptive legacy of socio-political transformations, from the perspective of hispanist history. The thesis supported here is that the processes of independence Hispanic Americans did indeed constitute a change in the colonial structures. However, beyond the national histories, the matrix that explains the series of transformations establishes a relationship between these and the process from Cádiz |
