| Spanish abstract | “En la época del nihilismo, sólo una vida estética puede justificar la existencia”, escribió Nietzsche. En este artículo, intentamos examinar una de estas propuestas de justificación estética de la existencia (que aquí hemos llamado confluencia est-ética), a saber, la estética de la existencia de Foucault. Después de un análisis, y en contra de la mayoría de las interpretaciones, concluimos que no hay justificación estética alguna en la propuesta foucaultiana. Con el objetivo de encontrar una confluencia est-ética más adecuada, examinamos después uno de los objetos de estudio del pensador francés: el dandismo. Se plantea el dandismo como una búsqueda ontológica de la belleza y se examina su carácter est-ético. Al final, algunas problematizaciones del mismo son señaladas con el objetivo de hacer avanzar un debate harto contemporáneo |
| English abstract | Nietzsche wrote “In the age of nihilism, only an aesthetic life can justify existence”. In this article, we try to examine one of these proposals for the aesthetic justification of existence (here we have called aesth-etical confluence), namely Foucault’s aesthetics of existence. After examining this, and contrary to most interpretations, we conclude that there is no aesthetic justification in the Foucauldian proposal. In order to find a more adequate aesth-etical confluence, we then examine one of the objects of study of the French thinker: dandyism. Dandyism is considered as an ontological search for beauty and its aesthetic character is examined. In the end, some problematizations of it are pointed out with the aim of advancing in a highly contemporary debate |
