| English abstract | The aim of this paper is to study the concept of space and the process of displacement in the short story “Nocturne”, by Samuel Rawet. From Armand Frémont, in The region, lived space; and Milton Santos, in "The strength of the place", we chose to raise three points that we consider important. First - The lived space, starting from the ideas raised by Frémont on the understanding of space in the three phases of life; second – The uprooting, emphasizing the almost always traumatic process (especially in the initial period) of migration; and third - The appeal of memory to try to situate as Rawet builds through the memory, the tragic outcome that confuses the "time of action and the time of memory" pointed out by Milton Santos |
| Portuguese abstract | Este trabalho tem por objetivo realizar uma leitura da concepção do espaço e do processo de deslocamento no conto “Noturno”, de Samuel Rawet. A partir de Armand Frémont, em A região, espaço vivido; e Milton Santos, em “A força do lugar”, optamos por levantar três pontos que julgamos importante. Primeiro – O espaço vivido, partindo das ideias levantadas por Frémont sobre a compreensão do espaço nas três fases da vida; segundo – O desenraizamento, enfatizando o processo quase sempre traumático (principalmente, no período inicial) da migração; e, terceiro – O apelo da memória, para tentar situar como Rawet constrói através da memória o desfecho trágico e que confunde o “tempo da ação e o tempo da memória” apontada por Milton Santos |
