| English abstract | The article presents a genealogy of neoliberal thought through the perspective of Michel Foucault, in an effort to answer the following question: what would be the implications of this discourse in the reading of contemporary geographic space? With this aim in mind, the discussion is developed based on 1) raising the concept of Foucauldian governmentality; b) to understand, from this, the construction of classical liberalism; c) to situate the historical conditions of emergence of neoliberalism; d) differentiate it from liberal discourse; d) problematize the homo oeconomicus; e) to point out some effects of the regime of neoliberal truth in contemporaneity, in terms of both space and time categories |
| Portuguese abstract | O artigo realiza uma genealogia do pensamento neoliberal através da perspectiva de Michel Foucault, num esforço de resposta ao seguinte questionamento: quais seriam as implicações desse discurso na leitura do espaço geográfico contemporâneo? Com esse objetivo em mente, a discussão se desenvolve tomando por base 1) levantar o conceito de governamentalidade foucaltiano; b) entender, a partir disso, a construção do liberalismo clássico; c) situar as condições históricas de emergência do neoliberalismo; d) diferenciá-lo do discurso liberal; d) problematizar o homo oeconomicus; e) sinalizar alguns efeitos do regime de verdade neoliberal na contemporaneidade, no que se refere às categorias tanto de espaço quanto de tempo |
