| Spanish abstract | Con el objetivo de contribuir a la estrategia de desarrollo territorial del municipio Viñales, el Centro de Investigaciones y Servicios Ambientales (ECOVIDA) de conjunto con el área protegida Parque Nacional Viñales y el apoyo del Programa Global de Pequeñas Donaciones de la Oficina del PNUD en Cuba (PPD/PNUD), ha realizado acciones encaminadas a la conservación de los recursos naturales y su diversidad biológica, con la activa participación de los habitantes locales de las comunidades asociadas al área protegida. El objetivo de la presente investigación es introducir nuevas tecnologías eficientes compatibles con el área protegida y la mejora de la agrobiodiversidad con la introducción de nuevas variables resistentes, contribuyendo con ello a incrementar la agrobiodiversidad en el paisaje cultural y el área protegida; con la utilización del método investigación-acción participativa, mediante un enfoque cualitativo con la participación de los actores locales en la investigación y la búsqueda de alternativas viables con el medio rural y el desarrollo agrícola sostenible. Los principales resultados se centraron en la reforestación de áreas degradadas, la implementación de sistemas agroforestales vinculados a la producción de café, en el diseño e implementación de fincas agroecológicas, la disminución de la despoblación rural, la mejora de la agrobiodiversidad, un mayor empoderamiento de la mujer rural y la fortaleza del producto eco turístico en el destino Viñales con la incorporación de nuevas fincas al agroturismo, además de una mayor sensibilización de las comunidades rurales en la protección de los recursos naturales y culturales |
| English abstract | With the aim of contributing to the territorial strategy of the Viñales municipality, the Environmental Research and Services Center (ECOVIDA) in conjunction with the Viñales National Park protected area and the support of the Global Program of Small Grants of the UNDP Office in Cuba (PPD / UNDP), carried out actions aimed at conserving natural resources and their biological diversity, with the active participation of local inhabitants of the communities associated with the protected area. The implementation of good practices and the introduction of efficient technologies and their technological innovation, has managed to create new capacities in agricultural farms, thereby contributing to increase agricultural agrobiodiversity in the Cultural Landscape and the protected area, through the use of the research method participatory action, through a qualitative approach with the participation of local actors in research and the search for viable alternatives with the rural environment and sustainable agricultural development. The main results focused on the reforestation of degraded areas, the implementation of agroforestry systems linked to coffee production, the design and implementation of agroecological farms, the reduction of rural depopulation, the improvement of agrobiodiversity, a greater empowerment of rural women and the strength of the eco-tourism product in the Viñales destination with the incorporation of new farms into agrotourism, in addition to a greater awareness of rural communities in the protection of natural and cultural resources |
