| Spanish abstract | El objeto de la investigación científica es obtener nuevos conocimientos, los que eventualmente podrían contribuir al desarrollo tecnológico de los países. Durante el siglo veinte, Bernardo Houssay y un pequeño número de pioneros, crearon la Asociación Argentina para el Progreso de las Ciencias (AAPC). Finalmente, en 1958 se fundó el Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET). Estas instituciones permitieron que miles de investigadores pudieran investigar en tiempo completo en diferentes áreas del conocimiento. | English abstract | The aim of scientific research is to obtain new knowledge that could eventually contribute to the technological development of countries. During the twentieth century Bernardo Houssay and a small group of pioneers created the Argentinean Association for the Progress of Sciences (AAPC). Finally, in 1958 the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) was founded. These institutions allowed thousands of researchers to investigate under full time dedication in different areas of the knowledge. This work analyzes the development of the mentioned institutions from a historical point of view and comments several technological considerations |
