| English abstract | An interpretation of Sylvia Plath’s poem “Lady Lazarus”, from the classic poetry book Ariel, brings into light some discussions on the extent to which the relation between author and artistic realization can be subjective. Based on the historical and literary contextualization of the relationship between universe, artist, art work and audience/reader, we will seek not only the critical analyses of one of the most notorious poems by Plath, but we will try to make a possible dialogue between her aesthetic strategies and some aspects of German romanticism, represented here by Rilke’s poetry |
| Portuguese abstract | Uma interpretação do poema “Lady Lazarus”, do clássico Ariel, de Sylvia Plath, traz à tona discussões sobre o quão subjetiva é a relação entre autor e realização artística. A partir da contextualização histórico-literária da relação entre universo, artista, obra e platéia e dos diversos re-olhares que a crítica produziu acerca de como se articulam esses componentes, buscar-se-á não apenas analisar criticamente um dos poemas mais famosos de Plath, como também estabelecer um possível diálogo com o romantismo alemão, sintetizado aqui na figura de Rilke |
