| English abstract | Nelson Rodrigues, one of the country’s greatest playwrights, was also an important sportswriter, and his writings helped in the construction of the Brazil as a soccer’s country. In his chronicles, Nelson sought to understand the reasons for the Brazilians’ low self-esteem that affected them in all activity’s fields, not only in soccer, and also to find solutions to their overcome. In a nutshell, Nelson identified the “Underdog Complex” and the recipe to overcome it, so the Brazilian could, finally, become the “genius man” |
| Portuguese abstract | Nelson Rodrigues, um dos grandes dramaturgos do país, também foi importante cronista esportivo e seus escritos ajudaram na construção do Brasil como o país do futebol. Em suas crônicas, Nelson procurava entender os motivos da baixa-estima dos brasileiros, que os afetavam em todos os campos de atuação, não só no futebol, e encontrar soluções para a sua superação.
