| English abstract | This paper analyzes the famous scene of the tempest (Act III, scene 2) of Shakespeare’s tragedy King Lear under the light of a concept of character built from the psychoanalytic theory of Jacques Lacan. In the study of the scene, we note how Lear cannot give in to the fool’s advice of looking for shelter, tragically becoming a king only in form, and who commands the tempest, that is, his sinthome. This reflexion takes us to the existence of philosophy as real, an articulation of truths on Badiou’s terms, that can have the letter as its origin. This throws some light into the tragedy of Lear as: his not being insane; that his guilt is for what he has done, not for what he is |
| Portuguese abstract | Este artigo analisa a famosa cena da tempestade (Ato III, cena 2) da tragédia Rei Lear de Shakespeare à luz de um conceito de personagem construído a partir da teoria psicanalítica de Jacques Lacan. No estudo da cena em questão, notamos como Lear não pode ceder ao conselho do bobo de buscar abrigo, tornando-se, tragicamente, uma forma-rei que se dirige à tempestade, isto é, seu sinthome. Essa reflexão nos conduz à existência da filosofia como real, articulação de verdades nos termos de Badiou que pode ter por origem a letra, origem essa que lança luz sobre a tragédia de Lear como: não sendo obra de loucura; de arrependimento pelo que fez, e não pelo que é |
