| English abstract | The 15th century Portuguese itineraries to India and to Brazil were translated into French (1610) by J. H. van Linschoten. These itineraries are basic for facilitating European Sea Expansion in the XVI Century to Oriental India and to Brazil. The discourse presents the routes and descriptions of the places and the signs found during the journey and involves many warnings and advice. The authenticity of these documents has been proved by reference to the original Portuguese documents. The analysis will be done according to the French theoretical school of discourse analysis. From this perspective, the subject and discourse are inseparable from the social-historical context. The same can be said for the notion of activity and subject’s choice in the process of construction of the sense. In conclusion, the facts found in the itineraries about the subject of the Le grand routier de mer confirm that the translator-subject assumes many faces, as subject-translator-spy-author. | Portuguese abstract | O Le grand routier de mer é uma coletânea de roteiros portugueses e espanhóis da Carreira da Índia e da Carreira do Brasil que foi traduzido pelo holandês J. H. van Linschoten e publicado em 1610. Trata-se de uma obra fidedigna que apresenta as rotas e descrições de cada local de passagem das expedições com aconselhamentos e advertências. Justifica-se a importância dos roteiros traduzidos pelo momento histórico em que exploradores europeus visam a se libertar do monopólio de portugueses e espanhóis e a conquistar as rotas para as Índias. Objetiva-se mostrar as condições de produção do discurso dos roteiros traduzidos em língua francesa, dando ênfase ao contexto sócio-histórico e à constituição do sujeito que se institui como tradutor-autor e espião. Os pressupostos teóricos pertencem à linha de estudos desenvolvidos na escola francesa de análise do discurso. Amostras dos roteiros serão apresentadas |
