| English abstract | The essay discusses the limits of interpretation, reflecting on the tensions between openness and limit, power and freedom, truth and drift. It puts in dialogue hermeneutics and semiotic perspectives and points out its convergences and divergences, focusing on Gadamer's Philosophical Hermeneutics, Jauss’s Aesthetics of Reception, the Semiotics of Reception developed by Umberto Eco and the Semiology. The theoretical field of the latter includes the ideas of Jacques Derrida, Roland Barthes and the School of Yale, represented by Jonathan Culler, J. Hillis Miller and Harold Bloom |
| Portuguese abstract | O ensaio aborda a questão dos limites da interpretação. Pretende-se refletir acerca das tensões entre abertura e limite, poder e liberdade, verdade e deriva, colocando em diálogo as perspectivas hermenêutica e semiológica, em movimentos de convergência e divergência. Focalizam-se a Hermenêutica da compreensão de Gadamer e a Estética da Recepção; a Semiótica da Recepção de Umberto Eco e a Semiologia. No campo teórico dessa última, incluem-se as ideias de Jacques Derrida, Roland Barthes e da escola americana de Yale, representada por Jonathan Culler, J. Hillis Miller e Harold Bloom |
