| Resumen en inglés | One of the objectives of this article is to reflect on 1922 Modernism – in our context, and in its relations abroad – at the time the moviment started and, in the sequence, to discuss some construed “images of Brazil”, as well as the inclusion of our country in the world market and in the cultural industry. By thinking the relations between Brazil and the world, during two important decades of the 20th Century, and in a comparative perspective with the first years of the 21st Century, the article proposes a reflection on the overwhelming present moment of capitalism, opposing the still incipient Brazilian capitalism of the 1920s to the current globalized period. These two aspects, that relate literature, memory and market, and that will be supported by a comparative reading of Um homem sem profissão, by Oswald de Andrade, and Verão, by J. M. Coetzee, are the two central problems which the article will deal with |
| Resumen en portugués | Pensar o Modernismo de 1922 entre nós e em seu intercâmbio com o exterior, em sua época e, posteriormente, para discutir a construção de algumas “imagens do Brasil” e sua inserção no mercado e na indústria cultural. Refletir sobre o Brasil e o mundo em duas décadas candentes do século XX e em princípios do século XXI, levando em conta a hoje avassaladora fase do sistema econômico capitalista, incipiente nos anos 1920, e globalizada no momento atual. Estas duas questões, ligando literatura, memória e mercado, e comparando as obras Um homem sem profissão, de Oswald de Andrade, e Verão, de J. M. Coetzee são os dois problemas nucleares tratados neste texto |
