| English abstract | The current study aims at describing the thematic structure of Audiovisual Research Articles (ARA) from the field of biology published on the Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE) beginning with the Textual Metafunction (HALLIDAY, 1985; 1994; HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2004, 2014). The steps of the analysis were: transcription of oral language, identification of Thematic structure and Thematic patterns based on Halliday (1985, 1994) and Halliday and Matthiessen (2004, 2014) and Thompson (2004). Results showed a preference for Processes and Circumstances thematization, a low occurrence of Textual Themes and an almost inexistence of Interpersonal Themes as well. It was concluded that the Textual Metafunction contributes to the instructional nature of the ARA corroborating previous studies (SOUZA, 2015; SILVA, 2015a, 2015b; MILANI, 2014) |
| Portuguese abstract | O presente estudo busca descrever a estrutura temática de Artigos Audiovisuais de Pesquisa (APP) da área de biologia publicados no Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE) partindo da Metafunção Textual (HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 1994, 2004, 2014). Os passos de análise foram: transcrição da língua oral, identificação da estrutura Temática e de padrões Temáticos, e contabilização e interpretação dos padrões Temáticos baseando-se em Halliday (1985, 1994) e Halliday & Matthiessen (2004, 2014) e Thompson (2004). Os resultados apontaram a preferência pela tematização de Processos e Circunstâncias nas orações analisadas, bem como uma baixa ocorrência de Temas Textuais e uma quase inexistência de Temas Interpessoais. Concluiu-se que a Metafunção Textual contribui para a natureza instrucional do AAP, corroborando com estudos prévios (SOUZA, 2015; SILVA, 2015a, 2015b; MILANI, 2014) |
