Spanish abstract Este documento expone la importancia de la Armada Nacional en la protección y conservación de los ecosistemas marinos, a través de la investigación transeccional descriptiva, en la que se realiza la recolección de información primaria y secundaria en un solo momento del tiempo para caracterizar y contextualizar la situación actual de los manglares y estuarios en la región caribe del país. En el desarrollo de este artículo, se evidencia la importancia socioeconómica y la función ambiental de los manglares y estuarios, así como sus principales contaminantes y la necesidad de la articulación normativa para dar una efectiva protección a estos ecosistemas. Es necesario tener como premisa que, es función de protección ambiental e investigación y desarrollo del Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible, como lo estipula: La Constitución Política de Colombia entre otras normatividades que rigen y establecen funciones para la administración y control de los ecosistemas marinos, así como principal fuente de investigación y desarrollo para los mismos. Tanto es así que,, las concepciones de desarrollo sostenible y de responsabilidad social plantean la necesidad de encontrar un equilibrio entre el avance de la industria y la conservación y protección ambiental
English abstract This document exposes the importance of the National Navy in the protectionn and conservation of marine ecosystems, through descriptive transectional research, in which primary and secondary information is collected in a single moment of time to characterize and contextualize the Current situation of mangroves and estuaries in the Caribbean region of the country. In the development of this article, the socioeconomic importance and environmental function of mangroves and estuaries, as well as their main pollutants and the need for normative articulation to give effective protection to these ecosystems are evidenced. While it is true, the Navy and DIMAR function as authorities in the preservation of these ecosystems and that is why the relevance of this article is necessary to have under the premise that it is a function of environmental protection and research and development of the Ministry of Environment and Development sustainable, as stipulated: The Political Constitution of Colombia in its articles 8, 79 and 80; Article 128 of Decree 1681 of 1978; Article 2 of Law 99 of 1993; Law 99 of 1993 and the Convention on Biological Biodiversity, approved by Law 165 of 1994; - Section 1 of article 3 of Law 357 of 1997 among other regulations that govern and certain functions for the administration and control of marine ecosystems, as well as the main source of research and development for them. So much so that the conceptions of sustainable development and social responsibility raise the need to find a balance between the advancement of the industry and environmental conservation and protection
