| Spanish abstract | El artículo aborda las narrativas de algunos viajeros que recorrieron el Antiguo Caldas. El propósito es analizar la región como construcción, a partir de las descripciones del territorio y la población contenidas en las narrativas de los viajeros seleccionados. El artículo adopta un enfoque histórico-antropológico de tipo cualitativo, que se fundamenta en la revisión de memorias e informes de los viajeros y en otras fuentes bibliográficas que las complementan y amplían. El artículo muestra cómo las narrativas de los viajeros contribuyeron a la configuración de un modelo sociocultural soportado en nociones de geografía, raza, familia y género que fue ampliado a los nuevos territorios colonizados en el sur de la provincia de Antioquia, de la cual emergió el Antiguo Caldas como región |
| English abstract | This article addresses the narratives of some travelers who visited Antiguo Caldas. The purpose is to analyze the region as a construct based on the descriptions of the territory and the population included in the selected travelers' narratives. The article adopts a qualitative historical-anthropological approach based on the review of the travelers' memories and reports and other bibliographic sources that complement and expand them. The article shows how the narratives of the travelers contributed to the configuration of a sociocultural model supported by notions of geography, race, family, and gender that was extended to the newly colonized territories in the south of the province of Antioquia from which Antiguo Caldas emerged as a region |
