| English abstract | The article should focus on the construction and dissemination of the image of power through the characters that represent the figures of presidents in the United States. The analysis will be made from the films that feature the bombings and assassinations of presidents Americans. In our assessment there is an ambiguous relationship, love and hatred that is present in the films produced in the U.S. on this issue. The heroism of the president, the clashes between the political and the good ‘bandit’, the good guy and the ‘terrorist’ is highlighted in the film, whichever Manichean vision of politics |
| Portuguese abstract | O presente artigo foca na construção e na disseminação da imagem do poder, por meio dos personagens que representam as figuras dos presidentes nos Estados Unidos da América. A análise se dá por meio de filmes que apresentam atentados e assassinatos dos presidentes norte-americanos. Na nossa avaliação, existe uma relação ambígua de amor e ódio presente nos filmes produzidos nos EUA sobre essa temática. A produção cinematográfica americana privilegia filmes de ação, prevalecendo o espetáculo e não a reflexão. O heroísmo do presidente, os embates entre os bons políticos e o “bandido”, o mocinho e o “terrorista” é ressaltado nos filmes, prevalecendo uma visão maniqueísta da política |
