| Spanish abstract | Esta investigación cuanti-cualitativa con enfoque descrip-tivo se realizó con el objetivo de caracterizar el empleo de las TIC en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje en la edu-cación básica de la ciudad de Machala; fue sistematizada a través de los métodos de observación científica, revisión documental, analítico-sintético y estadístico. Los hallazgos realizados a través de la revisión documental develan que las TIC son sustento material de los nuevos paradigmas educati-vos; consideradas y tenidas en cuenta por muchos docentes como herramientas didácticas; dadas sus características de multimedias, interactividad y asincronismo, que favorecen la motivación, atención a las diferencias individuales, el trabajo cooperativo y colaborativo, el aprendizaje autónomo y conti-nuo; la autoevaluación, evaluación y control de los procesos instructivos y educativos. Sin embargo, entre los principales obstáculos para su plena inclusión en las aulas están la for-mación tecnológica y la actitud del profesorado. Los centros escolares de la enseñanza básica en la ciudad de Machala se caracterizan por una tendencia moderada a la incorpora-ción de las TIC al proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, limita-da a las etapas de introducción y desarrollo del contenido, y restringida al empleo de los procesadores de textos, pro-gramas de presentación de diapositivas y en menor medida software educativos y buscadores en Internet |
| English abstract | This quantitative-qualitative research with a descriptive approach was carried out with the objective of characte-rizing the use of ICT in the teaching-learning process in basic education in the city of Machala. It was systema-tized through the methods of scientific observation, do-cumentary review, analytic-synthetic and statistical. The findings made through the documentary review reveal that ICTs are the material support of the new educational paradigms; considered and taken into account by many teachers as teaching tools; given its characteristics of multimedia, interactivity and asynchronism, which favor motivation, attention to individual differences, cooperati-ve and collaborative work, autonomous and continuous learning; self-evaluation, evaluation and control of instruc-tional and educational processes. However, among the main obstacles to their full inclusion in the classroom are the technological training and the attitude of the teaching staff. Basic education schools in the city of Machala are characterized by a moderate tendency to incorporate ICT into the teaching-learning process, limited to the stages of introduction and development of the content, and restric-ted to the use of processors of texts, slide show programs and, to a lesser extent, educational software and search engines on the Internet |
