| Spanish abstract | El objetivo del estudio es analizar el estado actual de la función social de la educación mediante la revisión bibliográfica. Precisa además las insuficiencias teóricas del rol social de los profesionales de la educación y sus contextos educativos. Es por ello, que se ofrece una revisión de las principales concepciones y enfoques acerca de la función social de la educación. Se emplearon métodos teóricos como analítico-sintético con el propósito de descomponer los contenidos de la función social: educación, escuela y docente, así como para la síntesis de los principales resultados del objeto de la revisión bibliográfica. Los principales resultados se sustentan en presentar una valoración acerca del estado actual de la función social y sus contenidos. Se verificó que esta se sustenta en lograr una trasformación en correspondencia con las demandas actuales de la sociedad. Los estudios analizados parten de considerar dicha función desde la relación dialéctica entre educación y sociedad. Subyace en sus propuestas funciones relacionadas a la preparación de los sujetos hacia su futura profesión y hacia una cultura ciudadana. Se pudo constatar el insuficiente tratamiento al rol social de los profesionales de la educación, al ser estos los que desempeñan la referida función desde sus contextos de actuación profesional |
| English abstract | The objective of this study is to analyze the current si-tuation of the social function of the education through a bibliographic review. It also specifies the theoretical insufficiencies related to the social role of educational professionals and educational contexts and the theo-retical inadequacies related to the social role of the professionals of the education in educational contexts. For that reason in this work, it is proposed to offer a re-view of the main conceptions and approaches about the social function of education. Theoretical methods such as analytical and synthetic were used in order to decompose the contents of the social function: edu-cation, school and teacher, as well as for the synthesis of the main results of the bibliographical review. The main results are based on presenting an assessment about the current situation of the social function and its contents. It was verified that it is based on achie-ving a transformation in correspondence with the cu-rrent demands of the society. The analyzed studies start considering the social function from the dialecti-cal relationship between education and society. It un-derlies in its proposed functions related to the prepa-ration of the students towards their future profession and towards a citizen civic culture. The inadequate treatment of the social role of professionals of educa-tion could be observed; since they are those who ca-rry out the mentioned function from their professional contexts |
