| Spanish abstract | Revisamos los antecedentes y los conceptos de medicina paliativa, qué enfermos deben recibirla, dónde se aplica y en qué consiste, quién debe administrarla y durante cuánto tiempo, así como sus bases éticas y jurídicas. Describimos las principales modificaciones de la ley de 2009 y 2012. Se concluye que la medicina paliativa no está en contra de los avances científicos y tecnológicos, pero pugna por su uso adecuado, con respeto a la voluntad y la dignidad del enfermo |
| English abstract | We review the background and concepts of palliative medicine, what patients should receive it, where it should be applied, who must administer it and for how long, as well as its ethical and legal bases. The most relevant law amendments from 2009 and 2012 are described. It is concluded that palliative medicine is not against scientific and technological advances, but strives for their proper use, with respect to the will and dignity of the patient |
