| Spanish abstract | El presente artículo muestra un diagnóstico del fenómeno migratorio así como un análisis de la distribución del ingreso, con y sin remesas, en México, la Región Centro Occidente y Michoacán durante el periodo 2000-2008. Ello con la finalidad de distinguir el nivel de concentración del ingreso en nuestro país y Michoacán así como el papel que juegan las remesas. Aunado a lo ante - rior se podrá apreciar en el documento el uso que le dan a las remesas (indivi - duales y colectivas) en la comunidad de origen, dicha utilización o gasto se ve influenciado por el comportamiento y modo de pensar del migrante. Por otro lado, a partir de la determinación del coeficiente de Gini fue posible apreciar que México, la Región y el Estado poseen altos niveles de concentración del ingreso y que las transferencias contribuyen en la disminución de la inequidad en la distribución del ingreso. Siendo dicho recurso utilizado principalmente en el consumo de artículos y bienes que se alejan de lo tradicional y se apegan más a los usados por los migrantes en el país anfitrión, por lo tanto, existe un proceso de asimilación cultural |
| English abstract | This paper presents an assessment of migration and an analysis of income dis - tribution, with and without remittances, Mexico, Michoacán West and Cen - tral Region during the period 2000-2008. This with the purpose of distin - guishing the level of concentration of income in our country and Michoacán and the role of remittances. In addition to this you can see in the document the use given to remittances (individual and collective) in the community of origin, such use or expenditure is influenced by the behavior and mindset of the migrant.
