| English abstract | The aim of this paper is to approach a definition of democratic neoliberalism that takes into account the structural power of concentrated capital over democracy, a power that tends to institutionalize political inequalities in the decision-making process by lockingin the power gains of capital while locking-out popular control. Within the so called "new democracies", among which Argentina is a paradigmatic case, economic development tied to indebtedness undermined the process of democratization. A brief analysis of the external debt –from the military dictatorship to the recent conflict with "vulture funds", is meant to illustrate the growing political power of finance capital, now strengthened by the rise of a new neoliberal government. |
| Spanish abstract | El objetivo de este trabajo es aproximar una definición de neoliberalismo democrático que de cuenta del poder estructural que tienen los capitales concentrados en las democracias actuales: un terreno de disputa de poder que tiende a institucionalizar desigualdades políticas en la medida en que instaura sistemas de toma de decisiones por fuera del alcance y control de las mayorías. En las llamadas "nuevas democracias", entre las cuales el caso argentino es paradigmático, el endeudamiento externo condiciona los procesos de democratización, por lo tanto un breve análisis de la deuda externa desde la dictadura militar hasta el reciente conflicto con los "fondos buitres", intentará ilustrar el poder político del capital financiero, el cual se ha visto recientemente fortalecido por el ascenso al poder de un nuevo gobierno neoliberal. |
