| English abstract | I want to begin by stating that on May 21 the Afro-Colombian Day is commemorated throughout the country, it is the most important activity for the black people in Colombia. It is a date instituted by Decree 725 of 2001, when 150 years have passed since the abolition of slavery in the country. Precisely, on May 21, what is commemorated is that: the freedom of the black people, their struggle to achieve it. |
| Spanish abstract | Quiero iniciar manifestándoles que el 21 de mayo se conmemora en todo el país el Día de la Afrocolombianidad, es la actividad más importante para el pueblo negro en Colombia. Se trata de una fecha instituida mediante el decreto 725 del año 2001, cuando se cumplieron 150 años de la abolición de la esclavitud en el país. Precisamente, durante el 21 de mayo lo que se conmemora es eso: la libertad del pueblo negro, su lucha por conseguirlo. |
