| Spanish abstract | Como una opción para el problema de los agrotóxicos, la agroecología ha buscado el control de especies espontáneas a través de la utilización de partes de plantas con actividad herbicida. El siguiente trabajo consiste en una investigación bibliográfica que pretende reunir las informaciones diseminadas en varios artículos sobre la biodiversidad de plantas medicinales como herbicidas naturales. Para la revisión de la literatura, se decidió buscar artículos en revistas nacionales e internacionales durante el período del 1997 a 2014. Se observó en la literatura varios estudios que cubren las plantas medicinales, pero es limitada la evaluación del potencial alelopático. El estudio agregó plantas medicinales que poseen compuestos alelopáticos secundarios potenciales, con posibilidad de ser utilizados en la producción de herbicidas naturales. Es importante alentar este tipo de estudios, para de una perspectiva ecológica en general, posibilitar la manipulación de interacciones alelopáticas relacionadas con la agricultura |
| English abstract | As an option for the problem of agrotoxics, agroecology has sought the control of spontaneous species through the use of parts of plants with herbicidal activity. The following work consists of a bibliographical research that aims to gather the information disseminated in several articles on the biodiversity of medicinal plants as natural herbicides. For the review of the literature, it was decided to search for articles in national and international journals during the period from 1997 to 2014. Several studies that cover medicinal plants were observed in the literature, but the evaluation of allelopathic potential is limited. The study added medicinal plants that possess potential secondary allelopathic compounds, with the possibility of being used in the production of natural herbicides. It is important to encourage this type of studies, for an ecological perspective in general, to enable the manipulation of allelopathic interactions related to agriculture |
