English abstract | The present article tries to demonstrate how the historical narrative conceived by Frederick Jackson Turner managed to transform the Manifest Destiny doctrine into a scientific historical theory. It was used politically in different moments throughout the twentieth-century, because it allowed the transmutation of a certain historical contingence, the expansion and the conquest of the West, into an “unquestionable” law of historical development |
