| English abstract | This text is dedicated to analyzing the relations between memory, history and time from the second half of the 20th century onwards, based on Western society in general. To this end, the text is structured as follows: first, we approach the temporality typical of modernity, characterized by progress, by the "acceleration of time" and by utopias; then, we analyze the temporality that emerged from the 1950s, marked, among other things, by the "memory boom" and preservation practices; finally, we analyze the relationship between memory and the dizzying technological evolution of the last two decades, especially with regard to the ability to generate and archive an infinite amount of data and information. |
| Portuguese abstract | O presente texto se dedica a analisar as relações entre memória, história e tempo a partir da segunda metade do século XX, tomando como base a sociedade ocidental de modo geral. Para tal, o texto se estrutura da seguinte maneira: primeiramente, abordamos a temporalidade típica da modernidade, caracterizada pelo progresso, pela "aceleração do tempo" e pelas utopias; em seguida, analisamos a temporalidade surgida a partir da década de 1950, marcada, entre outras coisas, pelo boom da memória e das práticas de preservação; por fim, analisamos a relação da memória com a vertiginosa evolução tecnológica das últimas duas décadas, especialmente no que se refere à capacidade de gerar e arquivar uma infinidade de dados e informações. |
