| English abstract | Linguistics and its subareas present different methodologies to investigate the human language capacity. On that note, linguists have devoted efforts to comprehend how the area can improve rigor in its investigations and robustness of its results considering the propositions of open science. Open science emerges in the context of trust and reproducibility crisis of the scientific enterprise. This context has fostered debates in the scientific community with the objective of solving the trust crisis and adopting scientific practices that improve studies reproducibility. One example of practice to improve reproducibility in research is preregistration. Our objectives in this paper are (i) to discuss how preregistration emerges in the open science scenario, (ii) to present what is a preregistration and to explain why it should be done, (iii) to suggest how it can be done, and, finally, (iv) to argue how this practice can improve rigor and reproducibility of research in experimental linguistics |
| Portuguese abstract | A linguística e suas subáreas apresentam diferentes metodologias para pesquisar a capacidade humana para linguagem. Nesse sentido, linguistas têm dedicado esforços para compreender como a área pode fortalecer ainda mais o rigor de suas investigações e a robustez de seus resultados a partir das proposições e reivindicações da ciência aberta. A ciência aberta surge no recente cenário da chamada crise na confiabilidade e reprodutibilidade das investigações científicas. Esse cenário tem promovido intensos debates na comunidade científica com o intuito de contornar a crise de confiabilidade e adotar práticas científicas que fortaleçam a reprodutibilidade de estudos. Um exemplo de prática que pode ser adotada para fortalecer a reprodutibilidade da pesquisa científica é o pré-registro de estudos. Nossos objetivos neste trabalho são (i) discutir como a prática de pré-registro de estudos insere-se no contexto da ciência aberta, (ii)apresentar o que é o pré-registro e explicar porque ele deve ser feito, (iii) sugerir uma série de etapas para o pré-registro de um estudo e, por fim, (iv) argumentar que essa prática pode fortalecer o rigor e a reprodutibilidade da pesquisa na linguística experimental.DOI10.25189/2675-4916.2022.V3.N1.ID616Cad.Linguíst.,Campinas,V.3,N.1,2022:616 |
