| English abstract | The article aims to identify Nancy Fraser's contributions to rethink and qualify Hannah Arendt's critique of the instrumentalization of the political by the social in modernity – emphasizing the different understandings that the authors propose for needs. Initially identifying that the problem of needs in politics refers to a dilemmatic aspect in Arendt's thought, the text addresses a contrast between Arendt"s and Fraser's theories on the same subject. Finally, it weaves conclusions about the convergences and divergences between the authors, as well as their potentials for criticism of modern politics that can emerge from this interlocution. |
| Portuguese abstract | O artigo visa identificar as contribuições de Nancy Fraser para repensar e qualificar a crítica de Hannah Arendt à instrumentalização do político pelo social na modernidade – com ênfase nas diferentes compreensões que as filósofas propõem para as necessidades. Identificando inicialmente que o problema das necessidades na política se refere a um aspecto dilemático no pensamento de Arendt, o artigo encaminha um contraste com a teorização de Fraser a respeito do mesmo tema. Por fim, discute-se as convergências e divergências entre as autoras, bem como os potenciais de crítica à política moderna que podem emergir a partir dessa interlocução. |
