| English abstract | This article aims to analyse the family constellation in the novel Die Liebhaberinnen, written by the Austrian author Elfriede Jelinek. In this context, family is understood as a narration in which different roles are played in accordance with a cohesive and coherent thematic centre. The narration entitled 'family' has the function of preparing the subject for the bigger plot of society, training him to experiment with different identity roles, to accept alterity and to control his egoistic impetus. Jelinek deconstructs this narrative project, showing that the roles of the family members hardly mask their lack of compromise with a common narrative, that the domestication of animal impulses are loosely chained and that the principle of acceptance and solidarity are underdeveloped. Jelinek does not give any solution to the reader, but invites him to reflect |
| Portuguese abstract | Este artigo pretende analisar a constelação familiar do romance Die Liebhaberinnen, escrito pela autora austríaca Elfriede Jelinek. Nesse contexto, família é entendida como narração em que diferentes papéis são desempenhados de acordo com um núcleo temático coeso e coerente. A narração 'família' tem a função de preparar o sujeito para o enredo maior da sociedade, treinando o indivíduo a experimentar diferentes modalidades de identidade, a aceitar a alteridade e a controlar seus ímpetos egoístas. Jelinek desconstrói esse projeto de narração, mostrando que os papéis dos membros familiares mal mascaram sua falta de compromisso com uma narração comum, que a domesticação dos impulsos animais estão frouxamente acorrentados e que o princípio de aceitação e solidariedade se encontram subdesenvolvidos. Ela não fornece uma solução ao leitor, mas o convida a refletir |
