| Spanish abstract | La lucha por la libertad del pueblo griego sustenta el hecho de que por primera vez la Grecia moderna aparezca en la poesía cubana. Y, aunque se siga evocando la Hélade de la Antigüedad a lo largo de toda la centuria, esta adquiere una cercanía y unos tintes muy diferentes a los usuales entre los demás escritores neoclásicos del ámbito hispánico, al transparentar los afanes independistas de la isla antillana que permanecía como colonia española cuando el resto de las naciones hispanoamericanas continentales se habían emancipado. Es nuestro objetivo, por tanto, mostrar la imagen de Grecia y sus diversas proyecciones en las letras cubanas a lo largo del siglo XIX. |
| English abstract | The fight for the freedom of the Greek people supports the fact that for the first time modern Greece appears in Cuban poetry. And, although the Hellas of Antiquity continues to be evoked throughout the entire century, it acquires a closeness and shades very different from those usual among the other neoclassical writers of the Hispanic sphere, by making transparent the independence desires of the Antillean island that it remained a Spanish colony when the rest of the continental Hispanic American nations had emancipated. It is our objective, therefore, to show the image of Greece and its various projections in Cuban letters throughout the 19th century. |
