| Spanish abstract | En este artículo se definen, clasifican y sistematizan las conjunciones coordinantes y(e), o(u), pero y sino; se excluyen del análisis las restantes conjunciones y locuciones coordinantes que aparecen en las gramáticas más usuales del español. Se establece la diferencia entre dos tipos básicos de coordinación: primaria y secundaria. La coordinación primaria se subdivide en copulativa o aditiva, señalada mediante y(e), y en disyuntiva o no aditiva, señalada mediante o(u). La coordinación secundaria se subdivide en adversativa aditiva, señalada mediante pero, y en no aditiva, señalada mediante sino. Se concluye que la coordinación secundaria o adversativa se superpone a la primaria: pero sobre y(e) y sino sobre o(u) |
| English abstract | In this article, the coordinating conjunctions y(e), o(u), pero y sino (and, or, but and [not only…] but, respectively) are defined, classified and systematized. The remaining coordinating conjunctions and locutions, which appear in the most Spanish grammars, are excluded from this analysis. The difference is marked between two basic types of coordination: primary and secondary. Primary coordination is further subdivided in copulative or additive, indicated by y(e) (and) and in disjunctive or non-additive, indicated by o(u) (or). Similarly, secondary or adversative coordination is subdivided in additive, indicated by pero (but), and in non-additive, indicated by sino ([not only…] but). Secondary or adversative coordination prevails upon primary coordination: –pero upon y and sino upon o(u) |
