| English abstract | The research in «Brazilian social thinking» is justified by the importance of understanding the concepts in debate on possible solutions to social problems. The research on the problems of hunger and the work of Josué de Castro in that field was completed in 2009. Working on Gramsci's theory about the role of intellectuals, I’ve researched the work of this author interviewing relatives and other intellectual contemporaries, as well as an exhaustive reading of his interviews published in books, magazines and newspapers. Having had access to his collection of documents, I researched his political activity, read his literature and watched movies about his life, for organizing a Seminar commemorating the centenary of his birth in 2008. Besides the seminar I wrote the article «Josué de Castro a twentieth century man». The text includes a collection of the author, currently in press |
| Portuguese abstract | A pesquisa em pensamento social brasileiro justifica-se pela importância de se conhecer as concepções em debate sobre as possíveis soluções para os problemas sociais. A pesquisa sobre a problemática da fome e a atuação de Josué de Castro nesse campo, concluiu-se em 2009. Trabalhando a teoria de Gramsci sobre o papel do intelectual, pesquisei a obra desse autor entrevistando familiares e outros intelectuais, seus contemporâneos, além de exaustiva leitura de suas entrevistas publicadas em livros, revistas e jornais. Tendo acesso a seu acervo documental, pesquisei sua atuação política, li sua bibliografia e assisti a filmes sobre sua vida, para organização de Seminário comemorativo de seu Centenário de Nascimento, em 2008. Além do Seminário, escrevi o artigo «Josué de Castro um homem do século XX». O texto integra uma coletânea sobre o autor, atualmente no prelo |
