| Spanish abstract | Presentamos una contribución en torno al quehacer antropolingüístico en Venezuela. Es nuestro interés reavivar el debate con relación a los focos de la disciplina, su rumbo, las posibilidades y dificultades que definen su devenir como sub-disciplina antropológica, sus límites y su permeabilidad como campo de producción de conocimiento, terreno formativo y escenario para la acción social en el contexto venezolano. Comenzamos remontándonos a la institucionalización de la antropología en el país en el siglo XX, hurgando en ella para rememorar su nacimiento y el de la antropolingüística en su seno. Posteriormente, aludimos a algunas experiencias, tanto en el plano de la investigación, como en el académico y en el de la interacción con otros actores, principalmente las comunidades locales y el Estado |
| English abstract | We present a contribution on anthropolinguistic work in Venezuela. It is our interest to rekindle the debate in relation to the focuses of the discipline, its course, the possibilities and difficulties that define its becoming as an anthropological sub-discipline, its limits and its permeability as a field of knowledge production, training ground and setting for social action in the Venezuelan context. We begin by going back to the institutionalization of anthropology in the country in the 20th century, delving into it to recall its birth and that of anthropology within it.
