| English abstract | Three experiments were tested with monoculture and polyculture of Macrobrachium rosenbergii post-larvae and fingerlinsg of Pterophyllum scalare and Carassius auratus in Aquaculture Laboratory (UFPE) from June 1st, 1998 to January 19th, 1999. Macrobrachium rosenbergii density was the same in experiments, twenty post-larvae per aquarium (volume = 50 liters, area = 0.125 m2), while angelfish and goldfish densities were different in each experiment. In experiment I the angelfish densities were: two, four, six and eight angelfish with twenty prawns and one goldfish in treatments A, B, C and D, respectively. In experiment II densities of goldfish were: one, two, three and four goldfish with twenty prawns and eight angelfish in treatments A, B, C and D, respectively. Six treatments were done in experiment III: A- twenty prawn, B- one goldfish, C- eight angelfish, D- twenty prawns and one goldfish, E- twenty prawns and eight angelfish and F- one goldfish and eight angelfish. The experimental design was entirely randomized with four replications for each treatment in all experiments. The fingerlings and post-larvae prawns were weighed and measured every fifteen days and at the end of the experiments their final survival was recorded. The experiment I and II did not show significant difference between treatments, but final survival and length showed significant difference between treatments with angelfish, but not between treatments with goldfish. The results showed the possibility of polyculture of ornamental fish goldfish and angelfish with the prawn M. rosenbergii, in densities of twenty post-larvae of M. rosenbergii, eight P. scalare and one C. auratus |
| Portuguese abstract | Avaliou-se o monocultivo do camarão Macrobrachium rosenbergii (De Man, 1879) e policultivo com os peixes ornamentais japonês, Carassius auratus (Günther, 1870), e acará, Pterophyllum scalare (Heckel, 1840), no Laboratório de Aqüicultura (UFPE), de 01 de junho de 1998 a 19 de janeiro de 1999. A densidade do camarão foi igual em todos os experimentos, vinte pós-larvas (PLs) por aquário (volume = 50 litros, área = 0,125 m2), enquanto as dos peixes variaram. No experimento I as densidades do acará foram dois, quatro, seis e oito, com vinte PLs de camarão e um peixe-japonês, nos tratamentos A, B, C e D, respectivamente. No experimento II as do peixe-japonês foram um, dois, três e quatro, com vinte PLs e oito acarás nos tratamentos A, B, C e D, respectivamente. No experimento III foram realizados seis tratamentos: A- vinte camarões, B- um peixe-japonês, C- oito acarás, D- vinte camarões e um peixe-japonês, E- vinte camarões e oito acarás e F- um peixe-japonês e oito acarás. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado com quatro repetições. Quinzenalmente as pós-larvas eram pesadas e os peixes medidos, e, avaliada a sobrevivência. As variáveis analisadas não foram significativamente diferentes entre os tratamentos dos experimentos I e II, apenas no III a sobrevivência e o comprimento final apresentaram diferenças entre os tratamentos com acarás, mas não entre os tratamentos com peixe-japonês. O policultivo do camarão com os peixes ornamentais foi considerado viável, recomendando-se as densidades de vinte PLs de M. rosenbergii, oito P. scalare e um C. auratus |
