| Spanish abstract | Con el pretexto de una exposición inaugurada recientemente en Berlín, la autora reflexiona, en un constante registro ensayístico, sobre la fase histórica en la cual los monumentos de la Alemania socialista fueron eliminados del espacio público. En el sobresaliente ejemplo del desmantelamiento de la estatua de Lenin de Berlín (1970), se alude al problema de los monumentos que, para un sistema, están dotados de una semántica ideológica positiva, mientras que para otro (Alemania Occidental) se convierten en indeseados. La Alemania reunificada de los años noventa se encargó de seleccionar una narrativa de la memoria que apuntala la nueva identidad reunificada. Sin embargo, aquel pasado, en el que coexistieron dos sistemas opuestos en una ciudad dividida, parece ignorado. | English abstract | With the pretense of a recently inaugurated exhibition in Berlin, the author reflects –by means of a continuous registration essay– on the historical moment where the monuments of socialist Germany were removed from the public realm. The important example of the removal of the statue of Lenin in Berlin (1970) alludes to the problem of monuments that have a positive ideological meaning for one political system while becoming unwanted for another (West Germany). In the reunited Germany of the nineties, a narrative for the collective memory was established to support the new reunified identity. However, the past in which two opposing systems coexisted in a divided city appears to be neglected. The landscape of monuments in Berlin will be subjected to certain semantic corrections |
