| Spanish abstract | Este artículo presenta una comparación de dos discursos sobre trayectorias laborales y sobre las representaciones sociales de dichas trayectorias. La comparación busca contrastar dos nichos laborales diferentes y los dispositivos cognitivos que se generan a partir de dichos medios. La primera informante es una mujer indígena quiché, dedicada al comercio y a la docencia, residente de Quetzaltenango, segunda ciudad más importante de Guatemala y la más importante del altiplano. El segundo informante es un hombre ladino, agricultor y jornalero, que vive en Camotán; área rural del suroriente de Guatemala. Los hallazgos muestran un evidente contraste entre los sistemas productivos, las posibilidades de trabajo y las expectativas que ambos sujetos han construido. La dinámica o la estática de las trayectorias laborales guarda una relación directa con el tipo de representaciones que poseen los actores |
| English abstract | The article presents a comparison between two discourses of labor careers and the social representations of those careers. The purpose of the comparison was to identify the nature of the labor niches in which the informants were involved and the nature of the cognitive constructions they had. The first informant was a Quiché woman, dedicated to commerce and to teach in the city of Quetzaltenango, the second most important city in Guatemala. The second informant was a ladino man, involved in agricultural activities of subsistence and also a day laborer that lived in Camotán, rural area in the southeast of Guatemala. The results show us a clear difference of production systems and the ways in which each system becomes a factor in the construction of expectations. The dynamics or the static in labor careers keep a direct influence in the representations of individuals |
