| Spanish abstract | La historiografía en torno al estudio del arte mudejar en Hispanoamérica y las Islas Canarias ha evolucionado con el paso de los años. Los primeros en abordarla fueron los mudejaristas españoles, los cuales extrapolaron conocimientos, teorías y terminología de los casos ibéricos a los existentes en los territorios colonizados. Esto ha llevado a un uso que no responde a las necesidades propias de dichos bienes. Con este artículo pretendemos, tras la lectura de lo postulado hasta el momento, fijar definiciones y reformular conceptos, como pueden ser Arte Mudéjar, pervivencias culturales mudéjares, raigambre o tradición mudéjar, y mudejarismo |
| English abstract | The historiography dedicated to the study of Mudéjar art in Latin America and the Canary Islands has evolved over the years. The Spanish mudéjaristas were the first to study the phenomenon, extrapolating the knowledge, theories and terminology developed in the study of Iberian cases to those observed in colonized territories. This has led to misapplications that do not respond to the particular needs of this cultural legacy.
