| English abstract | this article we intend to show the importance of Benjamin’s refl ection about the Jugendstil by taking as a starting point the idea that this artistic movement is a second attempt of confrontation between art and technique. Benjamin critiques the movement considering that it is compromised with processes of stylization and aesthetization. Therefore, the relation between art and technique is removed from the fi eld of history and transported to the realm of phantasmagoria, which clearly expresses itself in the bourgeoisie conception of interiority |
| Portuguese abstract | No presente artigo procuramos mostrar a importância da refl exão de Benjamin sobre o Jugendstil, a partir da idéia de que este movimento artístico é uma segunda tentativa da arte se confrontar com a técnica. Benjamin critica o movimento por considerar que ele está comprometido com processos de estilização e estetização. Desta maneira, a relação entre arte e técnica é retirada do campo da história e transportada para o da fantasmagoria, que se expressa com clareza na concepção de interioridade própria da sociedade burguesa |
