| Spanish abstract | Tema de interés es la protección a los sitios arqueológicos dado que materializan la memoria de la historia. Por ello, la preservación de evidencias forma parte de la disciplina arqueológica. Al respecto, el cerro Zacatépetl, uno de los pocos sitios que han perdurado en el suroeste de la Cuenca de México, cuenta con varias formas de protección que le fueron concedidas a través del tiempo. La primera fue otorgada por la propia naturaleza que, durante la erupción del Xitle, la lava rodeó al cerro sin que llegara a cubrir las evidencias ubicadas en su cima. Las otras fueron resultado de la implementación de instrumentos legales promovidos por diferentes actores. Todas integran un connubio que resguarda al sitio y que ahora vale la pena analizar |
| English abstract | A topic of interest for archaeologists is the protection of archaeological sites because they are the materialization of the memory of histo-ry. Consequently, the preservation of this evidence is part of the archaeological discipline. Zacatépetl hill is one of the few sites that have survived in the southwest Basin of Mexico. It has several forms of protection that were granted through the time. The first was given by nature itself when lava from the eruption of Xitle surrounded the hill without covering the evidence on its summit. The others were the result of legal instruments promoted by different individuals. All of them combine to protect the site and now it is worth analyzing them |
