| Spanish abstract | El área de Milpa Alta localizada al sureste de la Cuenca de México se ubica al comienzo de la zona montañosa, conocida comúnmente como “cerril”; región que se encuentra rodeada de grandes elevaciones en la que destaca el volcán Teuhtli, escenario del proceso de investigación del Proyecto Paisaje Cultural en Milpa Alta. Con este ensayo se pretende dar cuenta del desarrollo del citado proyecto en el que a través de los trabajos de prospección se ha podido reconocer y registrar los sitios prehispánicos que ahí se encuentran, los cuales ponen de manifiesto una larga ocupación desde el periodo Formativo hasta el Postclásico, denotando las características de los diferentes asentamientos en torno al desarrollo de uno de los sistemas agrícolas más importantes en Mesoamérica, como lo son las terrazas |
| English abstract | The Milpa Alta area located southeast of the Basin of Mexico is situated at the beginning of the mountainous area commonly known as “cerril,” a region surrounded by high elevations in which the Teuhtli volcano stands out. This is the scene of the process of investigation of the Cultural Landscape Project in Milpa Alta. The intention of this essay to give an account of the development of the aforementioned project during which, through field exploration, it has been possible to recognize and register the pre-Hispanic sites found there. These show a long occupation from the Formative to the Postclassic period. Characteristics of the different settlements in relation to the development of the practice of terrace agriculture, one of the most important agricultural systems in Mesoamerica, are noted |
